Easing IBS Symptoms with Spicy Lemon Fennel Tea

Anyone who suffers from IBS knows that bouts of either chronic diarrhea or constipation are bound to happen. The condition can even cause blood during bowel movements and unbearable pains. Some people experience back and stomach pains too. I know I experience all of this and sometimes headaches, nausea and vomiting as well. However, I have learned how to manage my IBS carefully by sipping on several cups of my homemade spicy lemon fennel tea. It helps calm the body and the mind while easing the digestive system down so the intestines can relax and function properly so running to the bathroom does not happen constantly.

Herbs & Spices Need for the Tea

To make the spicy lemon fennel tea you will need a few organic ingredients. Those organic ingredients are dried ginger root, lemongrass, lemon verbena, rosehips, chicory, fennel seeds, cardamom and chamomile. You can find these dried herbs at local herbal shops or whole food grocery stores. You may also harvest them fresh from the garden and make the tea that way.

Creating the Healing Tea

To create the healing tea you will place two tablespoons of each dried herb into a pot with 12-cups of purified water. Then, place the lid on the pot, place the pot on the stove, bring the ingredients to a roaring boil, remove the pot from the stove and allow the tea to steep and brew for an hour. The reason you want the tea to steep for an hour is that you want the healing properties from the tea to be extracted from the herbs.

Serving the Tea

Once the spicy lemon fennel tea is created, you can then strain the herbs from it, pour it into a large teapot, and serve it up in teacups with honey or nectar. You can even sip on the tea, as it is, which is how I prefer to drink it. You can drink as many cups of this tea as you want to help bring calm down your IBS symptoms or prevent them. I drink 3 to 4 cups of this tea per day and find great relief. I am able to get daily tasks done with great ease.

Benefits of this Tea

The reason why this tea is so helpful in treating and relieving IBS is because the herbs & spices contains anti- inflammatory, pain relieving, blood stopping, digestive, sedative and detoxifying properties, which help aid the body in healing and relaxation. If your IBS is causing you constipation it will relieve it, and if your IBS is causing diarrhea it will stop it. If you are feeling nauseated or are vomiting the tea will ease these symptoms away too. The herbs & spices in this tea will also help keep you calm and relaxed, which is much needed by IBS suffers. One of the main causes of flare-ups in IBS patients is physical and mental stress.

Precautions
Before using this remedy to soothe and treat your IBS it is best to talk with a doctor first to make sure it is safe and right for you. After all, what may help someone else, may not be the thing that helps you. Everyone’s body is different.
