Homemade Carpet Cleaner that Removes Pet Urine Stains

I have two furry little mini lop bunnies who are trained to use the litter box, but once in awhile they get excited when they meet someone new they really like. When this happens, they tend to have little accidents on the carpet as a puppy does. If you are a pet owner I am sure you are aware of how are it is to clean up urine from the carpets and especially the stains they can leave behind. However, I have figured out a remedy that cleanses the urine right up out of the carpet whenever it has dried in or freshly sprayed on. Best of all, it removes the stains and odors urine can leave behind too.

Ingredients Needed

To create the carpet cleaner that removes pet urine you will need three cups of organic white vinegar and tea tree oil. White vinegar contains natural cleaning and stain removing properties in it due to the natural acid it contains. The acid works like a bleaching agent, but without causing discoloration to fibers. The tea tree oil is useful because it disinfects and helps fight odors. Vinegar contains disinfecting and odor fighting properties too. Vinegar also helps fizz the urine up to the surface of the carpet so it is easy to absorb up and out of it with a cotton cloth, sponge or paper towel.

Creating the Urine Remover

The pet urine stain remover is easy to make. All you need to do is grab a clean spray bottle, fill it up with the vinegar, and add in at least twenty-five drops of tea tree oil. Next, place the sprayer onto the bottle and give the ingredients a good gentle shake together. After, the cleaner is ready to use on the carpet for removing urine stains or any other stains you need to have removed.

Using the Cleaner

The best way I find to use the cleaner is by spraying the stained area of the carpet down with ten to fifteen squirts of it. After, take a cloth, sponger or paper towel and begin blotting the carpet. Next, spray the stain again and blot again. Continue until the entire stain comes up. This may take about ten minutes. For stubborn stains I find I need to spray the carpet down with at least thirty squirts of the remover, let it soak in for about five minutes and after take a steam cleaning carpet tool to help suck up the stain from the carpet. Eventually, the urine does come out of the carpet leaving it fresh, clean and odor free without discoloration.

You may use this stain remover on fabric furniture as well. I know I have often to help get urine out of the sofa and it has worked extremely well. Again, just spray the infected area down with the cleaner and blot with a cloth until the urine comes up.

Bottom Line

Anytime you are in need of a natural effective way to remove urine from the carpet or a piece of fabric furniture this is the remedy to use. It works well for me and continues too. I hope it helps all of you pet owners our there looking for a natural way to clean up your pet’s messes.
