Short Story: The Mystic Girl
Her name was Lily and from a young age she knew she was very different. Her first experience knowing this started in her elementary school. A group of students in the classroom she was in always picked on her calling her names and trying to trip her every chance they got. The teacher usually just stood by and watched, but one day the teacher started picking on Lily along with the students. However, that ended up being the last day she was ever picked on.
When Lily becomes hurt or sadden in anyway, the lights begin to flicker, and the area you are standing in becomes cold. It's as if you can feel her angry energy filling the room. It has been said, that this is what the teachers and students experienced in the classroom that day. However, it is rarely ever talked about.
When Lily discovered this special ability she had, she didn't understand it or even know why it was happening to her. She didn't know how to control it.
As time went on, eventually people that surrounded her daily realized what was happening and called her the Mystical Girl. This is because every time Lily would feel any sort of strong emotion other mysterious stuff would happen, even if she was around people.
The Mystical Girl was the perfect name for her because of the next strange incident that occurred at the age of 18 years old. Lily had walked into a drug store to pick up some medicine, but as she approached the pharmacy desk the lights began to flicker, and some unsettling feelings occurs, but this time with visions and her holding her head blurting out, "The BOY! The BOY!"
Everyone in the store was wondering what was going on. Lily's vision was of a 2 year old boy walking out of the store she was in without his mother noticing and getting hit by a car. Lily's reaction is what stunned everybody.
She dropped her handbag, ran towards the door and as she approached it, she saw the little boy in the road about 40 seconds from being hit by a dump truck. She ran towards the boy and picked up him within seconds and headed for the other side of the road as fast as she could. Her and the boy were about a half a foot from becoming hit by that dump truck. Lily then took the boy to his mother who was now standing in the entrance way of the pharmacy store in shock after experiencing what had just happened. Lily handed the boy back to his mother and no words of thank you were exchanged. Only shocked expressions from everyone who saw what had just occurred. Lily went back into the pharmacy grabbed her medicine and left as if nothing happened.
Lily didn't understand that experience either. Eventually more and more incidents occurs and more and more visions came. Lily began to notice a patterned and began to understand why she was developing this gift. She began to realize every time someone was near a near death experience or being harmed in anyway, she was right there or shown what to do in her visions. Lily was given the gift to be as close to death as possible and help save those close to death. She was always where she was meant to be and doing what she was suppose to do and that was saving lives.
One of the experiences that stopped Lily from using her gift was the one with her mother. Her own mother was afraid of Lily's abilities. Not only was Lily around the living who were about to die when need be, but she could also see spirits.
One night her mom was sitting in her chair reading a book and she had become terrified with in seconds as the room became cold and the doors in the kitchen opened by a spirit twisting the door handle. The spirit was one dressed in a black cloak with no face. It approached her mother with anger and Lily's mother screamed. Lily woke up and ran down the stairs to the living room to see her mother held in the air by the spirit. Lily looks at the spirit and the spirit looked back at her in amazement and spoke the words "death is your gift", and Lily spoke back the words, "BE GONE!" but in Greek.
Sure enough the spirit left, but her mother looked at her and said, " YOU FREAK! YOU ARE NOT MY DAUGHTER." Lily looked back at her mom with tears and sadness,. Then, the lights flickered, the room got cold, and the spirit came back. This is where I let you figure out what happened next.
Since that night Lily has never used her abilities to help anyone else out, but the anger and sadness she still feels from time to time can still be felt by all when they are standing near her.
