Experiencing the Black Sea

If you never experienced the sea or the ocean, then you have not experienced a great deal of the entire thing called life. If you truly love nature, a beach is a marvelous and unique place that can charge your batteries and make you experience the touch of sun rays, the freshness of the breeze, the softness of the water and the splendor of the water color. I have only been to the Black Sea, because I am from Romania, but this sea is not different from others, except from its darker colors, a reason for which it is called the way it is called.

I am normally living in a region full of mountains and hills which is 800 km away from the nearest sea, so I have to travel a lot to reach the Black Sea. Because travelling by plane is a little expensive for me, I usually go there by train (it takes up to twenty four hours) or by car (six to eight hours). The journey itself is quite amazing, as you can visit a lot of things when you go to the sea in your own vehicle. You have to traverse the Carpathian Mountains that are a continuation of the Alps.

The first time I traveled to the sea has been an amazing experience. I have seen many pictures of the sea before I reached the place, but what you can see with your own eyes can hardly be described in words or shown in pictures. The first thing that strikes you is the color and the immensity of the water. It’s like nothing you have ever seen, I guarantee you this. Then, it’s the atmosphere of vacation and the wonderful beaches.

You almost feel you are in heaven and you don’t want to go back home. Of course, it is not better than being on a tropical island, but for those who have no choice of going to such an island, the sea or ocean that they can have in their countries can be a good alternative.

Actually, the first time going to the sea was with my parents in 1987, when I was only five years old. My parents had to take me there because the doctor recommended it, as I had a lung problem and the breeze of the sea was supposed to heal it. Well, it did, after I spent all of my mornings there walking on the shore at 5 am and inhaling the cool breeze. This air contains marine aerosols that can heal lung problems, including asthma.

The best results can be obtained by combining swimming with breathing the fresh air and enjoying the rays of the sun. When you do this, you actually feel you connect to Mother Nature and absorb her healing energies. A typical day at the sea is this: waking up early to enjoy the morning breeze and see the sunrise, going home or at a restaurant for a breakfast and a coffee (or tea), sleeping at noon in a cool bedroom (usually at a hotel), going on the beach in the afternoon for swimming and getting a tan, walking on the shore in the evening to admire the sunset and the stars, having dinner at beach restaurant and maybe going to a club later to experience the nightlife.

Even if five days at the Black Sea are usually enough to refresh your senses, I would stay at the Black Sea for the whole summer, or at least for one month. Travel agencies usually offer packages of seven days. I even thought of the possibility to work there for the summer. Because most people go there in vacation, the atmosphere is very positive, joyful and relaxing.
