The Farmer's Breakfast

Breakfast is one of my favorite meals of the day. I think it is because it can be sweet, savory, or both. One of my favorite breakfast meals to make up is my farmer’s breakfast. It has pancakes, home fries and sausages. It takes a bit of time to whip up, but once it is done it taste so yummy.

First Breakfast Item Needed for the Farmers Breakfast

All yummy farmers breakfast start with home fries. To make the home fries you will need about six large yellow potatoes because they have a buttery tender flavor that makes perfect ones. You will also need butter, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and butter or margarine. After, you will wash and cut the potatoes up into bite sized pieces and toss them into a deep casserole dish that is greased with butter well. Next, you will sprinkle on a teaspoon of garlic powder and onion powder and a ¼-teaspoon of salt and black pepper. After, you will add four to five tablespoons of butter or margarine on to the top of them. Then you will sprinkle about three tablespoons of water onto the top of them, cover the dish with tinfoil and bake the home fries in a 400-degree oven for about an hour.

Second Breakfast Item Needed for the Farmers Breakfast

The second item you will need for the farmers breakfast is the breakfast sausage. As soon as the home fries only have 30-minutes left to cook, you will sauté the sausages up in a pan with some butter for about 10-minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked well. Follow the cooking instructions on your breakfast sausage package. As soon as the sausages are cooked, remove the pan from the stove and allow the breakfast sausages to stay in the pan with a lid over the top to help keep the sausages nice and warm.

Third Breakfast Item Needed for the Farmers Breakfast

You cannot have a farmer’s breakfast without something sweet and buttery such as pancakes. Homemade pancakes are simple to make. Just follow the recipes below to make your own yummy pancake batter.

Pancake Batter Recipe

Ingredients

1 Cup and Two Tablespoons of All-Purpose Flour
2 Teaspoons of Baking Powder
2 Tablespoons of Sugar
¼ Teaspoon of Salt
One Egg
1 Cup and Two Tablespoons of Milk
3 Tablespoons of Melted Butter or 1 ½ Tablespoon of Melted Margarine
1 Cup of Blueberries, Chocolate Chips or Whatever Ingredient You Would Like to Add to Your Pancakes

Instructions

1. Heat up a skillet pan to 300 degrees or a non-stick frying pan on the stove on medium heat. You do not want the pan too hot or you will burn your pancakes, but you do not want the pan to be under heated or your pancakes will come out doughy.
2. Place the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a large mixing bowl and combine them together with a wire whisk. Then, crack in an egg, add in the milk, pour in the melted butter and mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until you get a slightly thick pancake batter that runs off the spoon. If the batter is too thick, you will get stiff pancakes. If the batter is too runny, you will end up with crepes.
3. Then, pour about a ¼ cup of the batter onto the hot skillet pan and sprinkle the blueberries or chocolate chips onto the top of the pancake. Then, allow the pancake to cook for about a minute and half before flipping it to the other side. You can tell when the pancake is ready to flip because it will bubble on a bit. Then, flip the pancake and cook it on the opposite side for another minute and half or until lightly golden brown.
4. After, serve the pancakes, up with butter and maple syrup.

Putting the Farmers Breakfast Plate Together
Once the home fries, sausage and pancakes are ready, serve them up hot on a plate all together with your favorite syrups and butters.  You can even slice up some oranges and add them to the sides of the plate to help add a pop of color and to add an extra yummy treat to eat. If you do not like orange slices, strawberries work well too.
