Homemade Insect Repelling Spray

Spring is almost here and that means mosquitoes will soon be out as well. This means it is time to protect ourselves and our loved ones from those nasty blood sucking mosquitoes that transmit treatable and life threatening diseases to humans. The best way to prevent these blood thirsty insects from biting us is by making and using a homemade herbal bug spray that is safe for you and your loved ones to use as well as the environment, but bad to those mosquitoes.

Now, I know many of you go out to the store and stock up on those aerosol chemical filled bug sprays, but those can be dangerous. Making a safe and effectively bug spray that actually smells okay is easy to make with essential oils, moisturizers, and alcohol. All these ingredients can be found at any of your local herbal stores and organic stores. The ingredients can be pricey, but think about how much bug spray you can make once you have all the ingredients on hand.

Anyways, to make the homemade herbal bug spray you will need about 25 drops of each of lavender oil, lemongrass oil, cedar wood oil, geranium oil, tea tree oil, and peppermint oil. You will also need ½ cup of either almond oil, grape seed oil, jojoba oil, or olive oil. The last ingredients is 2 cups of vodka or rubbing alcohol. These natural ingredients create a powerful aroma mosquitoes cant stand so it repels them away from you.

The way to make the homemade herbal bug spray is by taking all the ingredients and pour them carefully into a spray bottle. Then you will want to give the spray bottle a good gentle shake to combined them together. The bug spray will have a strong herbal scent to it that is nice smelling to some people and not to others. However, I can easily put the scent aside when I am using it because it works effectively and keeps those disease transmitting mosquitoes away.

The best way I find to use the homemade herbal bug spray is to step outside into your yard or wherever it is you are and spray yourself and your loved ones down from head to toe with light sprays, but being careful of the face. The homemade herbal bug spray should repel the bugs away from you for up to 4 hours. After that you will have to reapply. Just remember once you are done being outside for the day to go in and shower or your going to smell like the spray.

So, there you have it a healthy way to repel those blood thirsty mosquitoes away naturally, effectively and most importantly safely. I wish you all the best with staying bug bite free and disease free this spring.
